Memorial Day Weekend in Chicago

We’re 4 days away from the unofficial start of summer in Chicago, Memorial Day Weekend!  How are you spending the long weekend?  Haven’t made plans yet?  There’s plenty to do!  Here’s some events going on in downtown Chicago Memorial Day Weekend:

Saturday, May 25th Soldier Field 10 Mile: This run starts just outside Soldier Field and runs south down Lake Shore Drive to Hyde Park and returns up the Lake Shore Path right by McCormick Place and Burnham Harbor with some AMAZING skyline views before you finish right on the 50 yard line on the field, just like Devin Hester (except he runs it past the 50!)!  This year is the 10th anniversary so the t-shirt and finisher’s medal are rumored to be better than ever!

And don’t forget, we have a special rate of just $129 including self -parking especially for runners and families,  that’s a $42 savings over our Hyatt rate of the day for Memorial Day Weekend.  Sleep in on race day and walk right over to the starting line!

Saturday May 25th 10:15pm Fireworks at Navy Pier: Memorial Day weekend marks the start of fire works above Navy Pier every Wednesday at 9:30pm and Saturday at 10:15pm.  Light it up this weekend!  Request a city view room, and you could enjoy this view of the fires works from your guest room!

Saturday May 25th 12pm Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade: View the 15th annual parade with over 10,000 others.  Parade starts at State and Lake.

Sunday May 26th 5:30am Bike the Drive: Bike up and down beautiful Lake Shore Drive with no cars to get in your way!

Monday May 27th 6:10pm Cross Town Classic @ US Cellular Field: Take in a ballgame where both teams are “home” and the heckling is unavoidable!  The Cross Town Classic is at White Sox’ US Cellular on Monday and Tues and Cubs’ Wrigley Field Weds and Thurs.

Allstate 13.1 Half Marathon

Anyone running the Allstate Insurance 13.1 Chicago Half Marathon?  This race takes place Saturday June 8th and runs through beautiful Jackson Park, past the Museum of Science and Industry, and along the Lakeshore Path through Chicago’s historic  neighborhoods including Hyde Park, Kenwood, and South Shore.  The race starts and finishes at Chicago’s majestic South Shore Cultural Center. Health Club Renovation Complete!

Our $110 million dollar guest room, meeting space, and lobby renovation and expansion is nearly complete!  Just our front drive and the new tower left to go!

Last week we reopened our StayFit Health Club and pool.  We are still waiting on the delivery of some more cardio machines.  When they arrive, we will actually have double the cardio machines that you see here pictured!  We know that keeping your fitness routine is important when on the go, so we want to help you get your work out in rather than be waiting for a machine to open up.  We are also just 2 blocks to the pedway at 18th st. which will take you across Lakeshore Drive to the Lakeshore Jogging Path.  Our concierge has running maps available to help you plan your course.

Prefer to bike outdoors?  There are bike rentals available right next door in McCormick Place Square for a nominal fee.
