A few weeks ago you met our Executive Chef, Anthony De La Rosa. Today, meet our Banquet Chef, Melissa Rose! Melissa works with Chef De La Rosa to create our delicious banquet menus, and ensures each and every detail of your menu is executed flawlessly!
Melissa earned a degree in Business Administration from DePaul University and then went on to receive her 2nd degree in Culinary Arts from The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago – Le Cordon Bleu. Melissa began her culinary career as a Pastry Chef at the May Street Market before joining the Hyatt family in June of 2008 as a Sous Chef in our Restaurants. In August of 2010, she was promoted to Chef Garde Manger, which to the lay person, is the Chef who oversees all cold food production. It didn’t take long before Melissa was promoted again to be Chef De La Rosa’s right hand as Banquet Chef in January 2012.
Though she has worked in all areas of our kitchen, pastries remain her first love and always her passion. The staff here at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place always loves tasting her treats and desserts! She is often sought after to provide her treats as prizes or motivation to employees in other departments of the hotel.
Until recently, Chef Melissa spent most of her free time planning her wedding! But, now she is a newlywed fresh from her honeymoon and enjoying the married life.
