stacy2Meet Stacy Terpsma, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place’s senior wedding coordinator!  This seasoned professional would love to assist you in planning your big day.

Stacy graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Communication and immediately began her career in the wedding industry as an Event Planner for The Ashton Place, a banquet and event space in Willowbrook, Illinois.  From a young age, Stacy had always known she wanted a career where she could utilize her passion for design and decorating.  Stacy joined the Hyatt family in 2007 as a Catering Manager at the Hyatt Rosemont where she focused on the wedding market and was even nominated for Manager of Year for 2008!  In 2010, we were honored when Stacy made the move to join the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place team as a Senior Catering Manager and your personal wedding coordinator!

Stacy loves to see all the details and decorations come together transforming a room into a living and breathing event!  She enjoys how the couples work together with her from the very beginning of the planning process all the way to the end on their happy day, seeing everything come together as the couple imagined…or better!  Stacy’s favorite part, however, is hearing feedback from couples after their wedding and receiving referrals from past brides and grooms.  In her free time, Stacy loves to spend time with family and friends, shop, travel, and explore the city of Chicago!

Millions of people have indulged in his work, but few can say they’ve seen the man behind the masterpiece, or plate, in this case.

For the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the creative vibe running through each of our newly configured dishes comes at the hands of our Executive Chef Anthony De La Rosa who has been behind the scenes at the hotel for over eleven years!  Now it’s time to meet the man behind the apron.

His career with Hyatt Hotels began in 1990 soon after he graduated from Washburne Trade School’s Culinary Program.

After graduating, De La Rosa, or Chef as well call him, immediately started working as a breakfast cook for Hyatt Hotels at the Hyatt Suites on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.  He also supervised Jaxx, which served as the location’s fine dining restaurant.

In 1992, he transferred to San Antonio to open the Hyatt Regency Hill Country where he again found his niche in fine dining. He ran the hotel’s restaurant until 1996 when De La Rosa returned to Chicago.  He became the Executive Sous Chef at the original Park Hyatt Chicago where he stayed until the property was closed to change locations in 1997.

De La Rosa then took the position as Executive Sous Chef at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. He remained at the flagship property until the year 2000 when he returned to the Park Hyatt in it’s new location as we know it now next to the historic Chicago water tower.  He opened the Park Hyatt’s now famous Nomi Restaurant and Lounge.

Chef found his home with us in 2002 as Executive Chef overseeing all food preparation for Shor, Forno, Mx Lounge, Daily Grind Market, and over 30,000 sq ft of meeting and banquet space.

Want to taste some of Chef’s creations?  Visit us!  You can make reservations for Shor Restaurant here or by dialing 312.528.4140.

Hyatt has a global commitment to infuse our associate’s employment experience with the same hospitality and care that we demonstrate to our guests. This year, we have been recognized by many organizations for this commitment to our associates!

  • In 2012 the Chicago Tribune set out to find the best places to work in Chicago.  They decided the best way to determine this was to ask the employees themselves.  The results came in this week, and we’re please to share that Hyatt has come in #2 in Chicago as the best places to work for large workplaces!
  • For the 9th consecutive year, Hyatt also received an 100% rating in the Human Right’s Campaign’s annual report, and consequently named us one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality”.  As America’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender civil rights organization, the Human Right’s Campaign, conducts an annual report on U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to the LGBT community.
  • In March, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place specifically was recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as the #10 Best Place to Work.
